The 2012–13 UEFA Europa League will be the fourth season of the competition since it was renamed from the UEFA Cup. The final will be played at the Amsterdam ArenA in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
For the 2012–13 edition, two changes will be made from the 2011–12 edition:
Association team allocation
A total of 195 teams from 53 UEFA associations are expected to participate in the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League. Associations are allocated places according to their 2011 UEFA league coefficient, which takes into account their performance in European competitions from 2006–07 to 2010–11.

Association ranking
Redistribution rulesA Europa League place is vacated when a team qualifies for both the Champions League and the Europa League, or qualifies for the Europa League by more than one method. When a place is vacated, it is redistributed within the national association by the following rules: Qualifying roundsThe following information is based on the access list for the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League. However, due to the new access list for the 2012–13 tournament, changes will have to be made, most likely by moving some of the lower-ranked teams to earlier rounds. First qualifying roundBased on the 2011–12 access list, the following 54 clubs would be expected to enter in the first qualifying round. However, changes will have to be made due to the new access list for 2012–13.
Second qualifying roundBased on the 2011–12 access list, the following 53 clubs would be expected to enter in the second qualifying round. However, changes will have to be made due to the new access list for 2012–13.
Third qualifying roundBased on the 2011–12 access list, the following 30 clubs would be expected to enter in the third qualifying round. However, changes will have to be made due to the new access list for 2012–13. Play-off roundBased on the 2011–12 access list, the following 33 teams would be expected to enter in the play-off round (minus the cup winners of the six top-ranked associations). However, changes will have to be made due to the new access list for 2012–13.
Group stageThe following teams are expected to participate in the group stage: The group stage of the competition will consist of 12 groups of 4 teams. The group winners and runners-up will advance to the round of 32, where they will be joined by the 8 third-placed teams from the group stage of the 2012–13 UEFA Champions League.
