Anti-Seismic Monument or Tangshan Earthquake Monument is located in east of Center Square, Tangshan City, and Tangshan Earthquake Memorial lies in west, the Monument Square is 320 meters long from east to west, 170 meters wide from south to north, which covers an area of 5.4 hectares, and it's not only recorded the dauntless spirit but also an ideal place of leisure.
Anti-Seismic Monument is composed of main monument and vice monument. The main monument exhibits the heroic stories in earthquake relief; the vice monument exhibits the history deed of Tangshan Earthquake in the form of ruins. The pedestal of the monument is 3 meters high; the body of monument is 30 meters high which is composed by four trapezoidal poles standing alone.
It symbolizes the collapsed architectures in earthquake and the new architecture soar above the horizon. The top of it looks like four huge hands reaching the sky symbolizing "Man Can Conquer Nature". The four sides of monument body are composed of eight embossments symbolizing the support from far and near of nation to disaster area of Tangshan. The monument body is reinforced concrete structure, and the surface is granite. In the center of frontispiece hangs the tablet of "Tangshan Earthquake Monument" written by Hu Yaobang.
