Incumbent Democrat Nita Lowey will seek re-election. Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, will not seek the Democratic nomination.
Army reservist Mark Rosen, who previously sought the seat in 2010 but was forced to drop out of the race after being deployed to Afghanistan, will seek the Republican nomination.
