Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography

The Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography is a photography museum, school, and research center in Moscow, Russia. The center was founded in March 2, 2010. The decision to establish the Centre was taken by The Lumiere Brothers Photogallery owners Natalia Grigorieva and Edward Litvinsky as its logical extension. The Center exhibits Russian and foreign collection photography.

Every two months the Centre openes a new photographic exhibition, most of which have been prepared by curators of the Center for several years and were the result of long work with the heritage of Russian and Soviet photography in the archives of renowned photographers of the Soviet era, such as Igor Gnevashev, Naum Granovsky, Vladimir Lagrange, Antanas Sutkus, Aleksandras Macijauskas, Vitaly Butyrin.

The Lumiеre Brothers Center for Photography participated in "The Night of Museums" in 2010 and 2011.

The premiere exhibition of the Center "Icons of the 1960s - 80s" was chosen by the Russian Museum for display in the halls of the Marble Palace.

Centre is also engaged in social projects. In the summer of 2010 and 2011, the Centre organized two exhibitions: "The Soviet photography 60-70" and "Moscow history of the XX century. Part 1" in the Moscow Metro, which allowed the Muscovites and guests who do not have time to visit the exhibition halls to see the iconic images of Soviet photographers.
