Brilliant Media
Brilliant Media is a British media company with offices in Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. The company was launched in September 1999 as a result of the merger of (established 1993) and DMS (established 1981).
The merger created the largest independent media buying agency in the UK. The Manchester office opened in June 2003 and Birmingham in November 2007. Since its launch Brilliant has grown from start-up billings of £40m and a headcount of 30 staff to billings of £150m and 125 staff in 2010.
In 2011, Lord Kirkham sold the £1bn turnover DFS furniture business to Private Equity house Advent International; the subsequent review of advertising and consolidation of the £100m media spend into Mediacom London marked the end of a 16 year relationship that had seen Brilliant’s tenure on the account grow from one store to the UK’s largest furniture retailer.
Notwithstanding the loss, Brilliant still ranks as the 14th largest media agency in the UK and is ranked as one of the top 10 digital agencies.
