The 1951 Grenadian general election was held on the basis of universal adult sufferage to fill the elected seats of the Legislative Council in the British Colony of Grenada. Eric Gairy`s Grenada United Labour Party (GULP/United Labour) won 6 of the 8 seats. At this time the Legislative Council had few powers. The role of head of government remained with the Administrator.

Background

This was the first election in Grenada`s history held on the basis of universal adult sufferage.

Only one political party existed at this time Eric Gairy`s Grenada United Labour Party (GULP/United Labour).
