The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is a registered charity set up with its main aim to help children and young adults to regain their confidence through sailing. It was founded in 2003 after Ellen MacArthur went sailing with another charity in France with the same aim. It runs a number of various different types of trips ranging from residentials to one-day trips. Every year in the Summer, the trust takes around 2,000 children and young people sailing. The trust also now works with every young person's cancer treatment ward in the UK.
The Trust
The trust's head office is located in West Cowes. It depends entirely on donations to trade. It trades solely in charter boat trips for children and young people and skippers to skipper them. To date, the trust has taken over 5,000 children and young people sailing since its launch.
The Trips
The trips that the trust runs range from four-day trips to day trips. The four-day trips go around the Isle of Wight. The trips start at Cowes and stop at Yarmouth and Newtown Creek. They also have trips at Bradwell that consist of a multi-activity outdoor centre.
The Staff

Events
BT Tower Stair Challenge
The BT Tower Stair Challenge, in association with Barretstown was a fundraising event on 7 April 2011 that the fundraisers had to climb the emergency stairs of the BT Tower, 843 to be precise (however, there were a few people who didn't read the sign and went right to the very top, two floors above this).
